Care Instructions

Caring for Your Kymory Pieces

Our products are crafted from natural wood, a material that's beautiful, durable, and meant to last. With a little care, your Kymory pieces will age gracefully and continue to bring warmth to your home for years to come.

General Wood Care

Daily care: Wipe surfaces with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Never leave standing water on any wood surface.

Avoid direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause natural fading or discoloration over time. Place your pieces away from windows with strong, constant sun when possible.

Keep away from heat sources. Avoid placing wood items near radiators, fireplaces, or heating vents. Extreme heat can cause the wood to dry out, crack, or warp.

Mind the humidity. Wood naturally expands and contracts with changes in humidity. Avoid placing pieces in overly damp environments like unventilated bathrooms or near humidifiers running at high levels.

Kitchen & Dining Pieces

Cutting boards and serving boards: Hand wash with warm water and mild soap after each use. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth — never soak or place in the dishwasher. To maintain the finish, apply a thin layer of food-safe mineral oil every few weeks or when the wood looks dry.

Bowls, utensils, and trays: Hand wash only. Avoid prolonged contact with acidic foods like lemon, vinegar, or tomato, as they can stain or affect the wood over time. Dry immediately after washing.

Trivets and coasters: Wipe clean after use. Although designed to protect surfaces from heat, avoid placing extremely hot cookware directly on the wood for extended periods.

Bathroom Pieces

Soap dishes and trays: Empty and wipe dry regularly to prevent moisture buildup. Allow the piece to air dry between uses. If the wood begins to look dull, a light application of natural wood oil will restore its finish.

Shelves and racks: Wipe down weekly to prevent water spots. Ensure proper ventilation in the bathroom to reduce excess moisture exposure.

Bath caddies and benches: Dry after each use. Do not leave submerged or sitting in water. Occasional oiling will help maintain the wood's natural resistance.

Decorative and Living Room Pieces

Candle holders: Remove wax residue carefully by gently warming it with a hairdryer on low heat and wiping with a soft cloth. Never scrape the wood with sharp objects.

Vases and plant stands: If using with fresh flowers or live plants, always use a waterproof liner or container inside to prevent water from reaching the wood.

Sculptures, frames, and wall art: Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using chemical sprays or furniture polish, as they can leave residue or damage the natural finish.

Office & Desk Pieces

Monitor stands and organizers: Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid placing wet cups or bottles directly on the surface — use a coaster to prevent water rings.

Phone and tablet stands: Clean occasionally with a dry cloth. Keep away from spills and liquid exposure.

Bedroom Pieces

Jewelry boxes and trays: Dust the interior and exterior with a soft cloth. Avoid storing damp or wet jewelry inside, as moisture can transfer to the wood.

Hangers: No special care needed — simply wipe if they come in contact with moisture or product residue from clothing.

What to Avoid

  • Dishwashers, washing machines, or any form of machine washing
  • Harsh chemical cleaners, bleach, or abrasive sponges
  • Soaking or submerging in water for any period of time
  • Placing in microwaves or ovens
  • Using sharp tools or abrasive materials to scrape the surface

Natural Aging

Over time, natural wood may develop subtle changes in tone and character. This is completely normal and is one of the qualities that makes wood such a special material. Your Kymory piece will evolve with your home — becoming even more unique as the years pass.
